The proposal defense and evaluation is a crucial component of postgraduate education for master’s candidates. It not only marks the starting point of a student’s academic journey, but also serves as an important platform to examine and guide the research direction and methodology of postgraduate students. The candidates delivered detailed presentations on their respective research topics, which covered multiple cutting-edge fields of computer science including artificial intelligence, big data, and medical image processing. Each candidate provided a comprehensive introduction to the research background, objectives, expected outcomes, and potential challenges of their projects. The panel of professors offered meticulous comments on the feasibility, innovativeness, and existing issues of the proposed research topics, fully affirmed the candidates’ research directions, and put forward valuable suggestions on optimizing research methods and deepening research depth. This face-to-face communication mode has greatly helped the candidates clarify the improvement directions and strategies for their future research.

This proposal defense session has deepened the candidates’ understanding of their selected research topics, further helped them clarify their research directions and sort out research ideas, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent writing of their degree dissertations. It is of great significance for promoting the continuous improvement of the quality of postgraduate education and training. It also marks a solid step forward in the development of the Kazakhstan Branch by the School of Computer Science. Going forward, the School will continue to introduce more high-level faculty resources to the branch and provide students with more learning and development opportunities.
